Day 219 - Thursday or Two-days
Today felt like two days in one. I unexpectedly had to take my pup to the vet an hour and a half away for his follow up when something came up on the husband's schedule. That meant my work day had a huge pivot. Fortunately, pupper got the all clear from the doc. Once we got back, I had to change for work, swap cars and hit the road in the other direction. It was like starting the day over again.
By the time I arrived at work (at noon), I already had driven 200 miles and came in to a silly squabble among the team. And we had meetings most of the afternoon, some even just to address this team drama as I am going on vacation soon and do not want phone calls or to hear a mess upon my return over something they should know better about.
Headed home and actually arrived with a much better attitude than I had had most of the day. I had little patience for the issues at work since I had already had a whole morning of things going on. And then mid-afternoon the hubby calls with yet another (negative) surprise.
But on the drive home, I took the time to not marinate in the unpleasantries but instead look at the bigger picture and remind myself that I can control how I respond to these things and that's all I can do.
I took one of my other pups (who had been sulking for not being able to tag along on the morning adventure) out for a walk - which turned into a mini run for us. She had a blast and exhausted herself so that's a win in my eyes.
Finished the evening with some paperwork to help hubby and then my evening yoga which was a nice relaxing session today.
My food routine was greatly interrupted by my schedule change (probably the most bothersome part of the unexpected trip). So I had a banana before we hit the road, then a Kind protein breakfast bar on the way. Once I got back to the house to drop the pup off, I made tea to head to work so I had my chai mid-day. Then lunch was the last of the black bean burgers, at like 3 pm. Since I did not have my oatmeal, I had extra calories for the day so I had grapes and cheese after the mini run.
It all worked out in the end but it was quite a day.
