new mini goals
Start the day off right... with some time outside, with fur friends, and with tea.
As I re-read the Fall Magnolias, I was reminded of something from a book I read recently about if you want to make changes to make lasting habits - only pick 2 things at once so your brain doesn't get overwhelmed.
I have made quite a number of changes over the last year and a half and sometimes I do think I probably piled too much on at once or added more before really mastering the ones I was already working on. So I want to give this new way a try to see if it can help me get past this plateau I've been stuck in.
One of the new changes (and since my commute now allows it): is to have tea at home each morning before leaving for work.
This accomplishes a few things for me:
- time in the morning to myself
- a peaceful start to the day
- extra time to set the tone
- time with the pups
- the ability to have 16 ounces before I leave, then make another 16 in a to go mug
So this new task started today. And it was wonderful. No rushing to get right out the door, I spent today's time outside as I would like that to be mostly where I do this task, but considering we are about to go into less-than-grand weather seasons, I am not going to hold myself to that.
After I had my tea, I prepped my lunch for the day and made a wheat bagel with peanut butter and banana to go.
For lunch today, I had a tomato (from the garden) and avocado salad to start.
Then prepped lunch of red lentil pasta, chickpeas, kale, and diced tomato sauce.
Mid-afternoon snack was blueberries with green tea, and then hibiscus tea.
I was feeling a little hungry when I got home so I heated up some plant based breakfast sausage and the last of the spinach I cooked over the weekend and made spinach/sausage tacos.
I've been trying to knock out my to do lists, that seem to grow and never shrink these days... With work having a lot of extra trainings, it has been easiest to try and do them after hours at home. But I also stayed late at work today just chit chatting with the construction team.
I did manage to take a moment in the evening to remember to just breath and admire the little things that make you happy.
